Job Summary
Professional public health nursing position for Craven County Schools, responsible for planning, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating school health services. Functions include coordinating student and school health services, providing supportive care and guidance to staff and students, consulting with physicians, maintaining records and school health processes, and ensuring adherence to professional nursing standards. Key duties include tube feedings and meds administration as applicable, recognizing and responding to seizures, supporting Daily Living Skills, behavior support, assisting nonverbal to limited verbal students, data collection to guide evidence-based practice, independent nursing decisions and timely triage, and coordinating/supervising the work of others. Proficiency with electronic/hard copy documentation systems and familiarity with standards and regulations (HIPAA, NC Nurse Practice Act, school nursing standards) are required. Travel limited to school-based duties; position emphasizes in-person school health services in a 10-month, exempt role.
Required Qualifications
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
- Currently licensed to practice in North Carolina
- Minimum of two (2) years LPN nursing experience or public health nursing experience
- CPR, AED, First Aid Instructor Certification (or able to obtain within a year)
