Job Summary
Operate hydraulic excavators for trenching, excavating, backfilling, grading, sloping, and material handling while safely navigating around underground utilities, pipelines, and structures. Read grade stakes, site plans, blueprints, and project specifications to work accurately to design requirements. Perform daily equipment inspections and routine maintenance, reporting any issues or safety concerns promptly. Maintain a clean work area and follow all company policies and safety regulations while collaborating with supervisors and grade crews. Valid driver's license required; experience with GPS machine control systems is an asset. Flexibility for overtime or shift work is necessary. This role supports the Civil Division's earthworks and site development projects.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience as an Excavator Operator in civil construction
- Valid driver's license
- Strong understanding of excavation techniques, soil conditions, and safe digging practices
- Experience working safely around underground and overhead utilities
- Ability to read grades and work accurately to project specifications
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Flexibility to work overtime or shift work
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with GPS machine control systems (Topcon or Trimble)
