Job Summary
Analyzes blueprints and other documentation to develop a materials list and cost estimate for sales and bids, using estimating software to determine quantities for walls and components, and assists the sales department with material availability, substitutions, and pricing data. Interfaces with clients, vendors, and contractors to resolve issues, reviews drawings and selections sheets, and prepares estimates to support bid decisions and cost-control efforts. Includes data-heavy tasks such as calculating linear/ square footage, understanding pricing factors, and contributing to bids and vendor selections.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in construction technology from a two-year college or technical school (preferred)
- 2-3 years of prior experience within the building construction industry
- Ability to read blueprints and interpret documents
- Proficiency with estimating software (DQ2000, Estimating and Quote System)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Windows, Word, Excel) and ability to prepare routine reports
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers or team members
- Ability to perform basic algebra and geometry
- Ability to work in an office environment and handle multiple variables in standardized situations
