EVS Technician - Evening Shift

Job Summary
Execute daily occupied and discharge/transfer cleaning and disinfection of patient care areas, equipment, and common zones while adhering to infection control guidelines and safety protocols. Properly stock cleaning carts, manage waste streams including regulated medical and hazardous materials, and maintain equipment through simple upkeep. Perform specialty tasks such as conference room setup, stairwell and elevator cleaning, and cubicle curtain hanging. Interact with patients, staff, and visitors with tact and courtesy, ensuring privacy compliance and promoting a safe environment. Operate mechanical cleaning tools like buffers and scrubbers effectively. Work the evening shift from 5pm to 1:30am.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Driver's License
- Must have a thorough knowledge of the requirements, policies, and guidelines for EVS procedures of IHS, Cherokee Indian Hospital, and applicable OSHA protocol
- Must be skilled in the use of mechanical and manual cleaning equipment such as buffer, scrubber, vacuum cleaner, mop, broom, and laundry equipment
- Must be familiar with hospital layout
- Requires the ability to follow both verbal and written instructions
- Must be able to read, write legibly and speak clearly
- Must know all related sanitation guidelines and quality assurance requirements

- Ability to remove waste and transport to the appropriate disposal area while identifying proper wastes streams handling (i.e., regulated medical, recycle, solid and hazardous)
- Ability to follow all infection prevention practices (i.e., proper cleaning and disinfection protocols and process, hand hygiene, standard & isolation precautions, as well as proper donning and doffing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE))
- Ability to perform specialty tasks according to facility needs including tasks such as conference rooms set up/dismantle according to function sheets and schedules, cleaning of stairwells and elevators and hanging of cubicle curtains etc.
- Ability to assist with on-boarding of new Level I Technicians
- Must be available for Evening Shift, 5pm-1:30am
Desired Qualifications
- Valid Driver's License is preferred
- 6-month previous cleaning experience preferred
- Preferably within a healthcare environment
- CHEST (Certified Healthcare Environmental Service Technician) preferred or must obtain within one year after employment
- AHE Certified Healthcare Environmental Service Technician (CHEST) certification
- Experience keeping CHEST certification current while employed at CIHA
