Job Summary

Monitor Auto Transfer Table lines to keep shackles full while identifying and removing septic birds. Sort birds at a rate of 35+ BPM, inspect gizzards for yellow peel, injesta, and bile contamination at 210 per minute, and perform final trims to remove undesired defects. Properly salvage, vacuum, and wash birds per FSQA requirements. Effectively communicate with leadership and process control regarding flock, bird, or equipment issues. Maintain a clean work area and develop working relationships with USDA personnel. Work in a hot, humid environment standing for 8-to-10-hour shifts.

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or G.E.D.
  • Must have good communication skills
  • Capable of learning and remembering product specifications
  • Good hand and eye coordination
  • Ability to stand and use a knife for 8-to-10-hour shifts
  • Ability to pass required written exam
  • Ability to comprehend simple instructions
  • Ability to be observant, multitask, work quickly, and make fast decisions
  • Ability to work in hot, humid environment
  • Ability to think for oneself and apply common sense when needed
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Ability to effectively communicate with Leadership and Process Control concerning any flock, bird, or equipment issues
  • Ability to monitor the Auto Transfer Table lines and keep the shackles full on both lines while identifying and removing Septic birds
  • Ability to sort birds at a rate of 35+ BPM
  • Ability to sort, identify and remove yellow peel, identifying injesta and bile contaminated gizzards at a rate of 210 gizzards per minute
  • Ability to properly salvage, vacuum and was birds per FSQA requirements
  • Ability to perform Final Trim by identifying and removing undesired defects
  • Ability to develop and maintain a working relationship with USDA personnel
  • Ability to recognize and act on incidents and safety risks
  • Ability to consistently practice and enforce safe work habits
  • Ability to follow all company animal welfare guidelines
  • Must be available for night shift
  • Must be able to work in a changing environment and adjust to various production demands
  • Must be able to rotate to positions between departments or positions

Desired Qualifications

  • High School diploma or G.E.D. preferred
  • Analytical skills preferred on an intermediate level
  • Food or production experience preferred
  • Desire for continuous improvement preferred
  • Ability to train others with the skills and knowledge gained from position
