Job Summary
Deliver YMCA-approved evidence-based health and wellness programs designed to improve participants' wellbeing and outcomes. Lead structured programs such as the Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) and Stay Active and Independent for Life (SAIL), providing education, encouragement, accountability, and support in an inclusive environment. Facilitate group sessions with health education, physical activity components, discussions, and participant engagement; educate participants on healthy lifestyle behaviors including physical activity, nutrition, wellness strategies, and disease prevention/management. Encourage accountability through goal setting and progress tracking; demonstrate safe exercise modifications; monitor engagement and progress; complete required reporting and data collection; provide individualized encouragement and resources; communicate with staff and partners; maintain current certifications and training; uphold YMCA values and inclusivity.
Required Qualifications
- Experience leading group programs, health education, fitness, wellness, or community-based programming preferred.
- CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required within 60 days of employment.
- Ability to connect with people of diverse backgrounds.
- Previous customer service; ability to multi-task.
- Excellent organization and communication skills, both written and oral.
- Proficient in Microsoft office suite (excel, word, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Must have the physical, visual, and auditory ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
