Job Summary

Develop the annual strategic plan for a roster of faculty, staff, and student events, including award banquets, donor recognition, and alumni gatherings. Execute an integrated communications plan using print and electronic media, manage online registration systems, and oversee marketing materials with the MarComm team. Administer budgets ranging from $10,000 to $50,000 per event, manage supplier relationships, and recruit, train, and manage student volunteers. Ensure all programs comply with FIPPA and AODA requirements, maintain comprehensive Emergency Action Plans, and mitigate risks through collaboration with Campus Response and Safety Office. Create event reports and maintain vendor databases while providing direction to student groups. This temporary, 13-month contract role supports the School of Accounting and Finance's strategic objectives.

Required Qualifications

  • University undergraduate degree
  • Minimum of 4 years of event management experience
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and promoting large-scale and high-profile events
  • Demonstrated track record of event management as part of the marketing, communications and/or public relations team
  • Disciplined approach to planning and project execution with exceptional attention to accuracy and detail
  • Independent judgment in areas of time management, task prioritization and decision-making
  • Proven ability to multi-task, manage a large volume, conflicting priorities, and deadlines
  • Exceptional verbal and written communications skills
  • Project management experience with a demonstrated ability to manage concurrent projects under tight deadlines
  • Proven leadership and volunteer management experience
  • Experience developing, monitoring, and managing budgets
  • Proven success in managing multiple and complex projects involving many stakeholders
  • Experience with technology platforms, such as MS Teams, WebEx, Zoom and other 3rd party event software
  • Scheduling and coordination expertise with a focus on virtual event logistics and experience deeply rooted in best practices
  • Reporting expertise for pre- and post-events including registration, attendance, general product metrics and event surveys
  • Knowledge of Microsoft suite of products
  • Knowledge of UW's web content management system
  • Goal oriented, self-motivated with demonstrated ability to take initiative to work independently and effectively as part of a team
  • Strong communication skills - oral and written
  • Attention to detail and accuracy is essential
  • Well-developed organizational, analytical, interpersonal, and customer service skills

Desired Qualifications

  • Additional education or training in events management or public relations
  • Knowledge of Raiser's Edge and Advancement Tracker
