Job Summary
Events Manager responsible for leading a portfolio of in-person, virtual, and hybrid events for Sun Life U.S., including conferences, multi-day meetings, receptions, and incentive travel. Manages end-to-end event execution, budgets, vendor contracts, attendee registration, travel logistics, and post-event reporting. Coordinates with Marketing, Distribution, HR, Communications, AV Services, and Multimedia teams; leverages digital platforms and AI-enabled tools to enhance attendee engagement and deliver data-informed experiences. Leads show calling, floor management, and content coordination, and provides strategic guidance on agendas, speakers, and creative talent to drive business results. Requires strong project management, budgeting, stakeholder management, and the ability to work across internal teams and external partners in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of advanced expertise in meetings and events production (in-person, virtual, and hybrid)
- experience collaborating with production, technical, multimedia, and marketing partners
- advanced knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Office Suite
- experience with event platforms and digital engagement tools (e.g., ON24, Cvent, Wrike)
- ability to lead hands-on planning and execution of high-complexity events
- knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, expense tracking, reconciliation, and reporting
- strong negotiation and relationship-building skills with internal stakeholders and vendors
- experience leveraging data insights and emerging technologies to improve event strategy and engagement
- familiarity with AI-enabled tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) for planning and reporting
- preferred certification: Certified Meeting Professional (CMP)
- willingness to travel up to 20%
- experience with contract management and destination management companies
