Job Summary
Coordinate resident events, workshops, and classes to promote social engagement, wellness, and stability within the Silver Spring, MD community. Plan a monthly schedule of activities and host programs for adults, families, and youth while collaborating with corporate and nonprofit partners. Meet weekly with your supervisor to review goals and submit monthly impact reports. Live onsite to provide direct support, connect residents with resources, and ensure all activities run smoothly. This part-time role requires 12 hours per week, primarily during evenings and weekends, with a commitment to discounted rent.
Required Qualifications
- 18 years of age or older
- Be legally eligible to work in the United States
- Bachelor's Degree or related experience in event planning, social impact, or human services
- Excellent listening/communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to provide after-hours or weekend activities as needed
- Basic computer skills
- Basic fluency in English to compose marketing elements for the community and required reports
- Possess a current driver's license and liability insurance, and access to a form of reliable transportation to complete coordinator duties such as shopping for events and connecting with vendors
- Be physically able to use stairs, bend, sit, stand, stoop, and carry up to 25 pounds
- Have the availability to commit weekly hours to perform job responsibilities, mainly in the evenings and weekends when most residents are home
- Be able to make the minimum term commitment to serving in the apartment community
Desired Qualifications
- Bilingual Spanish preferred, but not required
- Experience serving at-risk populations preferred
- Previous event planning experience
- Experience working within a budget
- Some relevant experience using social media
- Have a network of support through potential volunteers, vendors, or community partners
