Job Summary
Event Technician at the Vancouver Convention Centre (PavCo) on a casual basis. Responsibilities include assisting technicians with electrical and plumbing installations for events, collecting and restocking equipment, maintaining shop cleanliness and inventory, installing basic services under supervision, and supporting setup, maintenance, and breakdown of event services. Requires strong communication, safety adherence, ability to work in a team or independently, and physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs (110 lbs with assistance). Shifts are hours based on events, with a preference for nights and weekends; hourly rate is $27.07 plus 8% in lieu of vacation. Must be eligible to work in Canada.
Required Qualifications
- High school certification or equivalent
- Minimum 1-year experience in the event industry or skilled trades
- LPEC (Live Performance Electrical Certification) preferred or must be able to obtain within 8 months of start date
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Customer service experience is an asset
- Valid forklift and scissor lift certification are assets
- Interest in the event and customer service industry is an asset
- Strong work ethic and good customer service skills
- Demonstrated effective communication skills and ability to follow instructions
- Ability to maintain a safety-sensitive environment and work safely
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs alone and up to 110 lbs with a second person
- Availability for varying shifts including mornings, evenings, overnights, weekends and holidays
