Job Summary
Greet all guests in a welcoming manner, provide excellent customer service, and operate a ticket scanner while verifying guest tickets. Secure building access points, perform routine area walks to address concerns, and respond promptly to emergency situations or disturbances. Handle disruptive individuals appropriately through conflict resolution, safeguard well-being proactively, and direct fans with special needs to Guest Services. Support all departments with escalations, act as an ambassador for OVG, and adhere to service standards, health and safety, and the AODA act. Work independently with minimal supervision, maintain professional interactions across all levels, and perform additional tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Ontario SmartServe certification is required (or be willing to obtain if hired and prior to first shift)
- 6 months to 1 year of experience in a similar environment, particularly in customer-facing roles
- Knowledge of Event Services and affiliated roles & responsibilities
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and make sound decisions
- Strong customer service skills and professional demeanor
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Capable of working a flexible schedule and extended hours, including but not limited to working early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays in addition to traditional business hours
- Professional presentation, appearance, and work ethic
- Comfortable with using communication tools like two-way radios
- Ability to interact effectively with guests, staff, and emergency personnel when necessary
- Must have strong attention to detail
- Must be able to perform all essential duties/requirements associated with this job
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in an event-related role is an asset
- Strong knowledge of alcohol control policies in the event-driven industry is an asset
- Familiarity with the City of Oshawa and local attractions is an asset
