Job Summary
Event Producer (Contractor) responsible for end-to-end event production across assigned workstreams, from vendor sourcing through on-site execution and post-event reconciliation. Develop and maintain detailed production schedules and milestone trackers; coordinate load-in/load-out, AV/electrical/rigging needs, and on-site production flow while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance. Source and evaluate vendors, manage communications and change orders, and monitor performance against scope, timeline, and quality. Maintain complex production schedules across multiple vendors and sites, manage budgets within approved parameters, track spend, and provide financial updates. Serve as a reliable point of contact for vendors and internal teams; contribute to weekly progress meetings and post-event debriefs. Adhere to TED branding and guidelines. Requires degree or diploma in Event Management, Hospitality, Production, or related discipline (or equivalent experience) and 4–5 years of hands-on event production. Location: San Diego, CA preferred, US or Canada-based; on-site presence required. Contract period: July 19, 2026 – March 30, 2027. Authorized to work in US or Canada.
Required Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in Event Management, Hospitality, Production, or a related discipline — or equivalent professional experience
- 4–5 years hands-on event production experience with demonstrated growth in responsibility
- Strong working knowledge of live event production craft: scenic, furnishings, temporary structures, technical services, and logistics
- Proven ability to manage complex, multi-vendor schedules across concurrent projects in fast-moving environments
- Solution-focused mindset: identify problems early and bring options to your manager
- Solid contract negotiation and vendor management experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication; able to manage up, across, and externally with clarity
- Proficient in Google Workspace, Airtable, and project management tools; familiarity with CAD/floor-planning software is an asset
- Familiarity with sustainable event practices and accessible event planning principles
- Stays current on event industry trends, emerging formats, and production technologies
- Must be authorized to work in Canada or the United States
- This position requires regular on-site presence at event venues
