Job Summary
Event Captain leads the event space and staff, ensuring smooth, high-quality hospitality experiences. Responsibilities include guest engagement, overseeing event setup and teardown, reviewing banquet event orders (BEOs) and layouts, maintaining inventory of banquet service equipment, guiding and training Event Staff, ensuring staff are in proper uniform and prepared for daily assignments, and escalating performance feedback as needed. Requires 3+ years in catering/hospitality or related fields, current Food Handler and Alcohol Server certifications, ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and flexibility to work nights and weekends. Pay is $30.00/hr for part-time evening/weekend shifts; in Chicago, IL. The role emphasizes leadership, guest experience, safety compliance, and cross-coverage of staff to ensure event success.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in catering, hospitality, or food and beverage service
- Current Food Handler and Alcohol Server certifications (e.g., TIPS, ServSafe) as required by jurisdiction
- Ability to independently lift up to 50lbs for an extended period of time
- Able to walk and/or stand for 8-10 hours per day
- Flexible schedule with all nights and weekends available
- Excellent verbal communication and active listening skills
- Strong leadership and delegation abilities
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations, including food handling and fire safety protocols
