Job Summary

Conduct routine preventive maintenance, inspections, and diagnostics on motors, pumps, valves, and other equipment while repairing broken components, installing new machinery, and performing emergency fixes. Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues using observation, testing, and schematics, and keep accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and parts inventory. Adhere to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations, including Hazmat, Confined Space, and pulmonary function training, while maintaining a clean work area and following strict biosecurity guidelines. Work with maintenance mechanic operators to learn safety and machine operation procedures, communicate daily issues to Refrigeration management, and perform all other duties directed by Maintenance Management.

Required Qualifications

Must have a good work history and attendance record
Must have a good history of safe work practices
Must be able to work any shift, weekends, holidays, and be on call for plant emergencies as they arise
Must be able to work at heights of 40 to 60 feet
Must pass M-4 maintenance test with a score of 80% or higher
Must possess basic mechanical abilities
Must be able to learn the basic day to day functions of maintenance mechanic within a 45 day trial period
Must have or purchase and maintain all tools required to work in this position
Must communicate to Refrigeration management any situation or issues needing to be addressed on a daily basis
Must possess and demonstrate the following basic electrical skills: How to use a standard volt/ohm meter
Must possess and demonstrate the following basic electrical skills: How to read and use an amp probe
Must possess and demonstrate the following basic electrical skills: Must be able to read and understand electrical schematics
Must possess and demonstrate the following basic electrical skills: Must be able to troubleshoot 110, 220, and 480-volt 3 phase electrical circuits
Must possess and demonstrate the following basic electrical skills: Must demonstrate basic welding skills
Must pass Hazwoper training
Must pass Confined Space training
Must pass pulmonary function and respirator fit test
Must pass Hazmat physical
Must have a High school diploma or equivalent
Must have excellent communication skills both written and oral
Must be directly involved with process safety management and will aid in company compliance with all government regulations concerning maintenance
Must obey all USDA, HACCP, plant, and safety rules & regulations
Must be able to stand long hours, lift heavy loads, and work in various positions
Must be flexible schedule (including weekends as needed)
Must be independent, confident, and reliable with great attendance
Must be able to work in hot/cold environments
