Job Summary
Perform cleaning duties specific to light duty, restroom, utility, and vacuum specialists, including sweeping, dusting, removing gum and spills, sanitizing classrooms and hallways, and maintaining resilient floor surfaces through mopping, spot removal, and buffing. Empty wastebaskets, clean windows and light fixtures, disinfect restroom lavatories and commodes, and inspect cafeterias, gymnasiums, and locker rooms as assigned. Report maintenance problems to the Lead Custodian, ensure building security before clocking out, and participate in set-up, breakdown, and cleaning during district events or emergencies. Work flexible schedule from 2 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. or 3 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. for 220 days at $12.61/hr. Lift up to 50 pounds and work on ladders while adhering to safety protocols and district core values.
Required Qualifications
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to read and understand instructions for cleaning, maintenance, energy management and safety procedures
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment and lift heavy equipment
- Ability to properly handle cleaning supplies
- Ability to work flexible schedule
- Experience in custodial work or the willingness to learn
- Ability to maintain emotional control at all times
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work alone
- Ability to work on ladders
- Ability to work in hot/cold temperatures
- Ability to work with dust, toxic chemicals, and materials
