Job Summary
Provide culturally based foreign language education and training to the US military in the Nation's Capital Region, Mobile Training Team locations, or at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California. Deliver intensive, proficiency-oriented instruction aimed at IL skill levels 2 and 3 to adult learners. Maintain native speaker status in the target language and execute weekly lesson plans while leveraging educational technology tools to enhance student learning. This role supports the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center mission with competitive compensation and potential housing, transportation, and per diem benefits.
Required Qualifications
- Native Speaker in Target Language
- Baccalaureate degree or higher
- At least two (2) years of successful relevant experience in intensive training, teaching adults using proficiency-oriented methods and materials aimed at ILR skill levels 2 and 3
- At least four (4) years in teaching the target language to adult learners in an intensive, proficiency-oriented environment
Desired Qualifications
- Experience writing and executing weekly lesson plans
- Experience successfully using educational technology tools to enhance student learning
