Job Summary
Linguists to support current and future foreign language and linguistic requirements across Yorktown Systems Group (YSG) and The Unconventional (TU) in roles spanning interpretation, translation, transcription, and related linguistic services. Responsibilities include in-person and virtual interpretation, written/electronic/audio/video translation, document review/editing, and foreign language instruction in classroom or virtual settings. The role is part of an evergreen requisition across the YSG/TU portfolio with opportunities for multiple clients and projects; candidates may be considered for a range of language-support roles as needs arise. Candidates must meet CAT I/II/III ILR requirements, be able to work in diverse environments, and comply with security and cultural expectations, with some travel as required.
Required Qualifications
- Must be qualified/certified at Category I, II, or III (ILR level 2+ in English for CAT I or II; ILR level 3 in English for CAT III)
- Experience providing foreign language instruction to adult students
- Ability to provide idiomatic translations of nontechnical material between English and the foreign language
- Ability to conduct consecutive, accurate translation and interpretation
- Familiarity with local culture and customs
- Willingness to live and work in harsh environments and temporary facilities as mission dictates
- Ability to function under high pressure and stress
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team of highly trained professionals
- Speak English and the foreign language fluently including regionalisms and slang
- Preserve tone and register of source materials
- Possess required security clearances as per CAT I/II/III levels
