Job Summary
Prepare detailed cost estimates for water/wastewater treatment facilities, yard piping, and civil scopes by reviewing plans, specifications, and documents to determine project scope, production rates, and cost risks. Perform quantity takeoffs, solicit vendor and subcontractor pricing, and analyze geotechnical data to model accurate production needs. Attend pre-bid meetings and jobsite visits to confirm conditions, then present detailed estimates and project narratives for final review. Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and operations teams to validate methods and cost assumptions, while mentoring junior staff and supporting continuous improvement through lessons learned.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of estimating experience in heavy civil or WWTP construction
- Proven success in public and private bid environments
- Strong understanding of risk and cost drivers
- Advanced knowledge of civil, structural, and mechanical/process construction principles, means, and methods
- Strong math and analytical skills for quantity calculations and cost modeling
- Ability to read and interpret civil, mechanical, and structural drawings, bid documents, and geotechnical data
- Occasional jobsite visits and vendor meetings required
Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with FDOT, municipal, or utility authority bid practices preferred
- Bachelor�s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Teams, Project, OneNote)
- Experience with HCSS HeavyBid, Bid2Win, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, Primavera P6, or Procore
- Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills
- Ability to mentor and support team development through collaboration and shared learning
