Job Summary
Estimate the amount of materials needed for home construction according to company policy and local building code using computer technology and mathematical skills. Assist salesmen with customer orders and materials lists, including trim take-offs and blueprint reading. Review actual versus estimated materials upon project completion and control expenditures to conform to budgetary requirements. Train sales representatives in estimating techniques and provide assistance to contractors as needed. Work on the sales/hardware counter as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned while complying with safety policies and completing assigned trainings.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in engineering or related area
- 1-3 years construction and building materials related experience
- Ability to read blueprints and other technical materials
- Ability to interpret building plans in diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables
- Ability to operate networked computer systems and specialized software application programs
- Ability to instruct others in effective use of application software
- Excellent oral communication skills
- Positive interpersonal skills
- Understanding of measurements and basic math principles
