Job Summary
Estimator responsible for determining scope of work from tender documents, performing full measured quantities and take-offs, developing and presenting bid-ready cost estimates for commercial projects in Winnipeg. Duties include preparing preliminary construction schedules, analyzing labor, material, and equipment costs, evaluating subcontractor bids and letters for completeness, leading bid closes for small to mid-size projects, developing scopes of work for subcontractors, and leveraging past project analytics and benchmarking to inform budgeting and cost-saving opportunities. The role emphasizes collaboration with subtrades, pre-construction teams, and project stakeholders, applying understanding of CCDC contracts, building practices, and codes, with proficiency in Procore and Gold Seal certification pathways. Requires strong communication, time management, risk assessment, and mentorship abilities, and offers professional development opportunities and benefits.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of construction estimating experience or equivalent
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with high attention to detail
- Excellent time management and ability to prioritize tasks
- Strong understanding of CCDC construction contracts, drawings, specifications, building practices and codes
- Demonstrated passion for high performance and adaptability
- Advanced knowledge of trade disciplines and integration of Mechanical and Electrical systems
- Experience budgeting, costing, scheduling, risk management and profitability
- Ability to mentor and guide team members' professional development
- Sound judgement and decision-making to support estimating objectives
- Ability to collaborate with pre-construction, project teams, subtrades, and stakeholders
- Gold Seal certification - required training to achieve designation
- Procore training modules applicable to Estimating
- Leadership, mentorship, and coaching familiarity
