Job Summary
Estimator – Industrial / Structural Retrofit & Base Building: Prepare accurate cost estimates for industrial and commercial construction projects, analyze drawings and specifications related to structural modifications (precast wall removal, shoring and underpinning, excavation and footings, concrete and structural steel), solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing, perform quantity take-offs and cost analysis, participate in bid closing, scope reviews, and value engineering, and collaborate with operations and project management to ensure smooth handover while assisting in budgeting and pre-construction planning.
Required Qualifications
- 3–8+ years of estimating experience within ICI construction
- Experience with base building, structural, or industrial projects is strongly preferred
- Exposure to scopes such as concrete, steel, excavation, or building envelope is an asset
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Strong understanding of subcontractor trades and pricing structure in Ontario
- Proficiency with take-off and estimating software
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ideal Profile: GC or trades background (concrete, structural, civil, or envelope)
- Has worked on existing building modifications or light ground-up projects
- Wants exposure to a mix of interior and structural/base-building work
- Is looking to grow with a company expanding into more technical project scopes
