Job Summary
Review architectural, electrical, and construction plans to determine materials, equipment, and quantities for commercial security and low-voltage projects. Perform detailed takeoffs for security cameras, access control systems, structured cabling, and related infrastructure. Build preliminary estimates by researching material costs and pricing, then conduct quality-control reviews to identify scope gaps and inconsistencies. Communicate with project teams regarding plan clarifications and discrepancies while adhering to company estimating standards. Work from home Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Central Time, with a focus on improving estimating accuracy and efficiency over time.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in construction estimating
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and electrical drawings
- Experience performing construction takeoffs and preparing project estimates
- Strong understanding of construction plans and documentation
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy
- Ability to identify missing information and make logical estimating decisions based on available plans
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently after training
- Comfortable working in a remote environment
Desired Qualifications
- Low Voltage Estimating experience
- Electrical Estimating or General/New Construction Estimating experience
- Experience estimating US-based construction projects and familiarity with US construction plans and estimating practices
- Experience with security cameras/CCTV, access control, low-voltage systems, or structured cabling
- Experience with commercial security systems, camera placement, and access-control requirements
- Experience performing material takeoffs and reviewing commercial building plans
- Experience with Service Fusion or similar estimating/takeoff software
