Job Summary
Commercial Construction Estimator for School and University Projects responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates for new construction, renovations, and additions of educational facilities. Responsibilities include analyzing architectural/engineering documents and RFPs, performing quantity takeoffs, calculating labor/material/equipment/subcontractor costs, coordinating with subcontractors and suppliers, supporting value engineering, developing project schedules, analyzing historical data for accuracy, identifying risks, and presenting bid data to clients. Must work with project managers, architects, and engineers to ensure budget alignment and competitive bidding; knowledge of Ohio codes and market trends relevant to educational facilities; proficiency with estimating software and strong communication skills for stakeholder collaboration.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field (preferred)
- 5+ years of experience in commercial construction estimating with focus on school/university projects
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, Sage Estimating, PlanSwift)
- Strong understanding of Ohio building codes and ADA compliance for educational facilities
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Effective communication and collaboration with project stakeholders
- Familiarity with sustainable building practices and green certifications is a plus
