Job Summary
Estimator for PCL Constructors Westcoast Inc. leads and prepares medium-to-large bids and proposals. Takes responsibility for calculating and validating quantity takeoffs, pricing general expenses and project-specific requirements, and conducting risk analysis. Coordinates with internal departments and external stakeholders to develop site logistics, schedules, and project budgets, and delivers final cost estimates and tender submissions for client review and approval. Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree or diploma in a related discipline (or equivalent), 8 years of progressive cost-estimating experience with on-site exposure preferred, and proficiency with estimating software and MS Office. This role is based in Richmond, BC.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in related discipline or trade experience or equivalent
- 8 years of progressive experience in construction cost estimating, and 6–12 months of on-site experience preferred
- Knowledge of bid preparation; quantity takeoff procedures; subtrade partner procurement; bid-closing procedures
- Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with stakeholders including subcontractors and suppliers
- Working knowledge of estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in related discipline or trade experience or equivalent
- 8 years of progressive experience in construction cost estimating
- 6–12 months of on-site experience preferred
- Knowledge of bid preparation, quantity takeoff procedures, subcontractor procurement, and bid-closing procedures
- Experience leading pursuits up to $150 million
- Working knowledge of estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to establish relationships with stakeholders and suppliers
- Strong analytical, budgeting and project-management skills
- Understanding of construction methods and scheduling
