Job Summary
Estimator responsible for qualifying bid requests and preparing estimates/proposals for telecommunications, AV, and electrical integration projects in collaboration with customer specifications. Performs estimating of field and testing hours and validates materials and equipment costs to provide a complete scope of work; conducts field surveys and participates in pre-bid meetings; stays current on industry materials and installation techniques; maintains estimating systems with updated material costs and labor units; performs basic AutoCAD tasks (plotting, overlays, symbol translation); collaborates with BAS, electrical construction, high voltage, and life safety & security estimators to maximize opportunities; attends NS operational meetings to provide weekly estimating updates; meets with existing and new customers to determine needs and offer cost-effective alternatives; conducts project/service kick-off meetings as needed; attends customer meetings to review ongoing work; recommends improved design, estimation, and installation practices; working hours minimum 40/week; safety/environmental considerations and PPE usage are noted; benefits include comprehensive medical, 401k with match, paid holidays, vacation, EAP, and more.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma; supplemental knowledge of the telecommunications industry desirable
- Minimum of ten years experience in the structured cabling industry in either installation or estimating practices
- Above average computer aided drafting and mathematical skills
- Basic understanding of networking telecommunications, A/V and electrical components
- Thorough understanding of the EIA/TIA telecommunications standards
- Ability to meet deadlines and work unsupervised
- Strong customer service skills
