Job Summary
Analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for products, projects, or services. Collaborate with sales, engineering, and production teams to gather necessary information for accurate quotes, while developing and maintaining a comprehensive database of cost data for materials, labor, and overhead. Identify cost-saving opportunities and alternative materials or manufacturing processes, then prepare detailed cost breakdowns and supporting documentation for internal review and customer presentations. Participate in bid review meetings to ensure competitiveness and profitability of proposals, and monitor market trends and supplier pricing to ensure current and accurate cost estimations. This role supports multiple partner companies in Montague seeking experienced Estimators to drive results within the West Michigan manufacturing region.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related technical field
- 3+ years of experience in cost estimating within a manufacturing environment
- Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and labor costs
- Experience with ERP systems and specialized estimating software
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) for cost tracking and data analysis
- Certification in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) for reviewing technical drawings
- Project management experience, particularly in a manufacturing or engineering context
