Prepare accurate quantity surveys and estimates for assigned project divisions by reading department policies, soliciting subcontractor quotations, and collaborating with architects and engineers. Examine office conditions to identify cost-saving measures, participate in plan reviews, and compile historical cost data. When designated as Lead Estimator, supervise bid team schedules, ensure successful kick-off and final reviews, critically analyze estimates to ensure competitive bids, and apply appropriate labor rates and construction methods. Attend project meetings, perform site investigations, and recognize risks to apply contingency and escalation when appropriate. Work required hours to complete tasks before established deadlines.
