Job Summary
Compile cost estimates for weld and assembly systems, special parts, and products to support pricing. Interpret engineering layouts, wiring diagrams, and data while maintaining knowledge of Detroit auto industry suppliers, manufacturing processes, and automation requirements. Estimate labor hours for mechanical design, fabrication, piping, assembly, installation, supervision, machining, wiring, and floor try-outs. Calculate construction costs including raw materials and purchased components, then estimate changes for the Project Manager. Negotiate customer changes, convert estimates into budgets, and develop proposals with Account Executives. Utilize standard spreadsheets and PC software while adhering to safety, environmental, and quality regulations.
