Job Summary
Review project plans and specifications for Division 5 scopes to perform detailed quantity takeoffs on structural steel, stairs, railings, and embeds. Solicit quotes from fabricators and suppliers to prepare comprehensive cost estimates covering labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs. Identify project risks and value engineering alternatives while maintaining an updated estimating database with pricing and productivity rates. Collaborate with project managers, field foremen, engineers, and clients during pre-bid meetings and site visits, then track submitted bids and maintain bid logs. Requires 3+ years of estimating experience in structural steel and miscellaneous metals, proficiency with Bluebeam and estimating software, and strong analytical skills.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of estimating experience in structural steel and miscellaneous metals
- Proficiency with Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel, and estimating software (e.g., Bid Wizard, Procore, or similar)
- Solid understanding of construction means, methods, and labor productivity
- Strong math, analytical, and technical skills
- Ability to read and interpret structural and architectural drawings
Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with union labor environments and wage structures (a plus)
