Job Summary
Estimator II with 3–5 years of experience in estimating and/or project management for a mechanical subcontractor, focusing on HVAC and Plumbing systems. Responsibilities include client communications, budget pricing and development estimates, attending bid-related meetings, performing digital take-offs for HVAC piping, sheet metal, and plumbing, maintaining pricing in take-off software, coordinating with the estimating team, supplier/vendor pricing, reviewing bid requirements, scheduling take-offs and turnover of estimates to operations, following up with clients, and assisting project management with buyout and handoffs. Education preferred in Construction Management or Engineering (equivalent industry experience acceptable); no specific certifications required. Must be highly organized, technically proficient in reading plans and specs, knowledgeable about local codes, and capable of working in both office and field environments. Emphasis on collaboration, meeting deadlines, and effective communication with clients and operations.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Construction Management or Engineering preferred
- Equivalent industry experience in place of degree
- Active participation in industry organizations preferred
- 3–5 years of experience in estimating and/or project management with a mechanical subcontractor
- Experience working with commercial HVAC and Plumbing systems
- No specific certifications required at time of hire
- Strong interpersonal skills; collaborative and team oriented
- Highly technical; proficient at reading plans and specifications; knowledgeable of local code requirements, systems, and construction standards
- Highly organized; able to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment; excellent oral and written communication skills
