Job Summary
Estimator I is a salaried, entry-level position that assists in preparing bid documents and cost estimates for electrical construction projects. The Estimator I has limited discretion to vary from established procedures when assembling construction costs by collecting and studying information to learn how to bid on a project. The Estimator I works under general supervision and provides overall support for several small to medium projects. Responsibilities include reviewing proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work, performing takeoffs, entering estimates into the estimating system, soliciting quotes from suppliers and subcontractors, coordinating with senior estimators to review scope and pricing, drafting scope letter inclusions/exclusions/clarifications, maintaining documentation, and supporting the Lead/Estimating Manager/Chief Estimator.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
- 0-2 years of experience in estimating commercial construction projects, preferably in electrical construction
- Basic experience/exposure in Accubid estimating
- Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
- Travel: Up to 10%
