Job Summary
Estimator I or II – Structured Cabling responsible for creating project estimates for small to medium projects and supporting Lead Estimators on larger projects. Duties include complete quantity takeoffs and summations of materials, soliciting trade partners and bid estimates, preparing vendor proposal comparisons and estimate summary sheets, assisting with RFP documents and schedules, determining pricing options, inputting data into estimating software, archiving cost data, participating in plan/estimate review meetings and site investigations, coordinating information from government/private entities (permits/hearings), managing Addendum logs, and providing guidance/training to new estimators and interns. Requires travel up to 20%.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Estimating, Mechanical, Civil or Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline, or equivalent field experience
- Detail orientation sufficient to organize and manage multiple project tasks
- Current driver’s license
- Ability to travel 20%
- Familiarity with ISqFt, ICE/Bid2Win, OST, Bluebeam/PDF, Google Earth
- 3+ years for Estimator II or 1+ year for Estimator I
- Proven positive and professional attitude, and strong customer service skills
Desired Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Estimating, Mechanical, Civil or Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline, or equivalent field experience
- Detail orientation sufficient to organize and manage multiple project tasks
- Applicable mathematical skills
- Familiarity with building/estimating techniques and software: ISqFt, ICE/Bid2Win, On-Screen Takeoff (OST), Bluebeam/PDF, Google Earth
- Proven positive and professional attitude, and strong customer service skills
- Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies
- Current driver’s license
- Ability to travel 20%
- Estimator I Qualifications: 1+ year of construction operations experience, including exposure to materials management and project operations
- Estimator II Qualifications: a few years of experience and higher responsibilities
