Job Summary
Gather, calculate, and compile data for bid proposal estimates, including quantities for materials and movement. Solicit quotes from subcontractors and vendors while maintaining DBE/MBE compliance. Construct bids by adding activities, crews, and equipment adjustments, then print and deliver proposals to owners or general contractors within required timeframes. Determine bid results through direct communication with contractors or bid runners for awarded jobs. Perform these duties under general supervision while maintaining compliance with all Veit policies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in Construction Management or Civil Engineering from four-year college or university
- minimum of 0-2 years' experience bidding and estimating projects
- 5 years of related field experience
- equivalent combination of education and/or experience
- Demonstrated proficiency with Construction Bidding and Project Management software
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Excellent communication skills including the ability to work with all levels of management, employees, external vendors, and other business associates
- Must clearly communicate directions and information
- Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, clients, and/or regulatory agencies
- Ability to define problems, collect and document data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of situations and events and respond accordingly
- Ability to seek counsel, when needed and use a variety of resources
- Ability to maintain compliance with all Veit policies and procedures
- Valid Driver's License
- ability to maintain a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record
Desired Qualifications
- Working knowledge of AGTEK and HCSS software
