Job Summary
Prepare contract proposal estimates by reviewing specifications, drawings, and pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work and required contents. Calculate complete takeoffs for disciplines including concrete, structures, earthwork, and piling while maintaining accurate working documents and supplier price files. Lead and coordinate total estimating efforts, review design options for cost and engineering quality, and track awarded contracts including change orders and credits. Interact with owners, architects, and subcontractors to provide feasibility data and maintain prequalification for state and local agencies. Standard work hours are 7:30am to 5pm with five-day weeks, though schedules may vary based on critical activities or safety supervision. This role supports the Virginia estimating process through standardized procedures and bid coordination with the corporate office.
Required Qualifications
- B.S. in Engineering
- 4-7 years of experience in estimating
- 4-7 years of experience in cost control
- 4-7 years of experience in engineering experience in the Construction environment
- Ability to manage multiple projects and personnel simultaneously
- Great communication and organizational skills
- Proficient computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases
- Must have a good command of the English language, both written and verbal
- Must have good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Must be able to comprehend an extensive variety of instructions, both oral and written
- Strong leadership and team player skills
