Estimator – Environmental & Specialty Contracting

Job Summary
Prepare detailed cost estimates for environmental remediation, asbestos abatement, lead abatement, mold remediation, and industrial demolition projects by reviewing drawings, specifications, and bid documents. Perform quantity takeoffs to develop labor, equipment, material, subcontractor, and disposal estimates while soliciting supplier quotations. Identify project risks, assumptions, and value engineering opportunities, then participate in site visits and pre-bid meetings to develop competitive proposals. Coordinate with project managers during turnover and maintain historical cost databases. Travel to project sites and pre-bid meetings is required. This role supports business development through budgeting and conceptual estimates for clients including healthcare systems, utilities, and federal agencies.
Required Qualifications
- Five (5) or more years of estimating experience in environmental remediation, asbestos abatement, demolition, heavy civil, environmental construction, or related industries.
- Experience reviewing drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Strong understanding of labor production, equipment costing, subcontractor pricing, and material estimating.
- Experience preparing detailed cost estimates and competitive proposals.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel.
- Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Travel to project sites and pre-bid meetings is required.
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Experience estimating environmental remediation, asbestos abatement, demolition, or environmental construction projects.
- Experience with HCSS HeavyBid, Bluebeam, Planswift, OST, or similar estimating software.
- Experience with conceptual estimating and negotiated work.
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification.
- 40-Hour HAZWOPER.
