Job Summary
Develop and manage cost estimates for electrical capital projects by performing quantity take-offs, formulating scope assumptions, and preparing detailed cost studies for design development, bidding, and change orders. Conduct complex research, trend analysis, and manual calculations to establish unit costs, reconcile contract drawings, and verify itemized costs against construction documents. Prepare contingency plans, analyze external consultant claims, and coordinate updates to project cost trend programs and historical databases. This role reports to the Cost Estimating Manager within NYCHA's Capital Planning Department, supporting the Authority's $6 billion portfolio of modernization projects across New York City.
Required Qualifications
- A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent
- seven years of full-time satisfactory experience in electrical estimating work on construction projects
- Undergraduate college credit leading to a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology
- two years of full-time satisfactory experience in electrical estimating work on construction projects
