Job Summary
Review project plans and specifications to understand scope, then analyze cost factors including materials, labor, and subcontractor bids to prepare detailed estimates. Order parts and materials based on approved estimates, verify their accuracy and condition, and organize them on designated racks. Collaborate with the project team to refine estimates, develop proposals, and present cost breakdowns to clients or management. Obtain client approvals for preliminary repairs and direction of payment forms before work begins, while submitting supplemental documents and securing insurance approvals in writing prior to vehicle release. Track historical data to improve future estimate accuracy and maintain comprehensive records of all documentation.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years experience in body shop estimating
- Proficiency in estimation software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management abilities
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
- Occasional evening and weekend work
- Up to 10% travel
- Some out-of-the-area travel and overnight stays
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field
- 3-5 years of experience in construction estimating or project management
- Familiarity with industry-specific software such as Bluebeam, Procore, or similar tools
