Job Summary
Estimator interprets total opening requirements per contract documents (plans, specifications, addenda) for a construction project. Uses computer technology and mathematical skills to form the estimate. Collaborates with General Contractor during hard bid processes, reviews scope of work, evaluates hardware/door packages, interprets labor costs, reviews drawings, identifies openings and hardware sets, and prices job using cost files in the Comsense system. Reads building plans, communicates interpretations with team members (sales, customers, architect), and ensures complete door and hardware takeoffs and costing. Requires knowledge of UL, fire code, ADA, life safety, and building codes, and strong proficiency in blueprint/plan reading, MS Office, and detail-oriented project management.
Required Qualifications
- 3-5 years of related experience in similar construction or building material industry
- Accurate mathematical skills
- Must pass pre-employment background check and drug screen
- Blueprint/plan reading and specification interpretation
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of door, frame and hardware applications as they relate to UL, fire code, building code, ADA, life safety and other restrictions that relate to the general commercial construction industry
- Excellent oral communication skills and positive interpersonal skills
- Detail oriented, deadline conscience, goal driven, and able to handle all types of scopes of projects
