Job Summary
Prepare accurate cost estimates for commercial construction projects by performing quantity takeoffs, analyzing pricing, and reviewing plans and specifications. Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor pricing while identifying risks, gaps, and value-engineering opportunities. Manage bid schedules and timelines, then support project handoff to operations teams. Assist in developing and improving estimating processes and systems to ensure estimates align with actual project costs and drive win rates. Based in the Kansas City metro area, this role offers direct visibility to leadership within a growing, family-oriented firm focused on quality craftsmanship and transparent execution.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of construction estimating experience
- Experience with commercial construction projects
- Strong ability to read and interpret plans and specifications
- Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously
- Proficiency in Excel and/or estimating software
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with design-build projects
- Familiarity with project management tools such as Procore
- Background in tenant finishes, renovations, or commercial interiors
- Trade experience (general construction, electrical, etc.)
- Experience with ground-up commercial construction, including office, retail, and warehouse projects
