Job Summary
Interpret total opening requirements from contract documents, plans, specifications, and addendas to form construction estimates using computer technology and mathematical skills. Work directly with contractors on hard bid processes, reviewing scope of work with the General Contractor pre/post bid and determining competitive hardware and HMF manufacturer package positions. Perform labor cost interpretation, organize project approaches by separating major portions and identifying typical opening or hardware sets, and summarize door openings by type. Read building plans with Cook & Boardman involvement, compare actual and estimated materials, and enter applicable information into the Comsense system to price jobs based on computer cost files. Responsible for complete door and hardware takeoffs and costing all parts and scope of work, including interpreting specifications and discussing interpretations with team salespersons, customers, or architects.
Required Qualifications
- 3-5 years of related experience in similar construction or building material industry
- Accurate mathematical skills
- Must pass pre-employment background check and drug screen
- Blueprint/plan reading and specification interpretation
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of door, frame and hardware applications as they relate to UL, fire code, building code, ADA, life safety and other restrictions that relate to the general commercial construction industry
- Excellent oral communication skills and positive interpersonal skills
- Detail oriented, deadline conscience, goal driven, and able to handle all types of scopes of projects
- May occasionally require business travel
