Job Summary
Estimator for a Bellflower, CA-based commercial general contracting firm. Responsible for preparing bids for all projects and aggressively following up on submitted bids and budgets until an award is determined. Will solicit subcontractor participation to meet project requirements, quantify and price labor and materials, understand the scope of work, review received bids, and prepare total project costs. Must set up cost estimates using internal estimating software, attend job walks, and promote continuous improvement in estimating methods. Requires strong communication, organization, and knowledge of pre-construction, complex bids, negotiated bids, budgets, and value engineering.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field
- Minimum of 5-7 years of verifiable experience in estimating commercial projects
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, BidMail, and Bluebeam
- Experience with commercial ground-up projects, retail, fine dining, corporate tenant improvement and hospitality
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Strong understanding and knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
- Familiar with conceptual and self-perform estimating
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task
- Experience attending job walks as required
- Knowledge of pre-construction, complex bids, negotiated bids, budgets, general conditions, and value engineering
- Set up and prepare cost estimates using internal estimating software
