Job Summary
Estimation Manager for electrical power distribution, transmission, and substation construction projects. Develop bid schedules in consultation with Department Head; procure and return plans for projects to estimate; prepare project estimates via detailed plan take-off and pricing of materials, equipment, and subcontractors; update pricing and labor rates; maintain estimating system and software; price change orders on large projects; evaluate bid results and maintain a bid database; develop estimating rules of thumb for budgeting; collaborate with teams and management; strong Excel, CAD/BIM skills and verbal/written communication are required.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum two years technical education in the engineering field, construction management coursework or completion of apprenticeship in a respective discipline.
- 5 years of prior estimating experience with related construction industry projects.
- Comfortable leading and guiding teams involved with company projects.
- Analytical, problem solving, strong interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills.
- General computer skills required with a good working knowledge of Excel, Microsoft Word, Outlook and a good understanding of CAD/BIM drawings.
- Comfortable with a wide range of project budgets and estimating 120 - 200 estimates per year based on size.
