Job Summary

Conduct reviews of technical assistance requests from federal agencies regarding actions affecting Essential Fish Habitat in the Pacific Islands Region. Coordinate with agencies to determine consultation requirements, gather necessary information for evaluation, and analyze proposed activities for potential adverse effects on marine species. Provide written assessments of effects using best scientifically available information and submit EFH conservation recommendations to federal action agencies. Build working relationships with stakeholders, respond to inquiries post-consultation, and contribute to developing work groups. This full-time remote position begins 09/29/2026 with a one-year base period and two option periods, supporting NOAA's Protected Resources Division.

Required Qualifications

  • Baccalaureate or equivalent level knowledge of the theories, principles, and methods of a technical or regulatory professional field
  • Commensurate skills and abilities acquired through high academic achievement
  • At least one (1) year of professional experience in a technical or regulatory professional field
  • One (1) year of experience in marine natural resource management
  • Other commensurate experience in marine natural resource management
  • One (1) year of experience working on MSA, ESA, or related statutes
