Job Summary
Two Essential Fish Habitat Consultants are sought to support NOAA Fisheries GARFO by performing technical and environmental reviews under NEPA and the Magnuson-Stevens Act. Responsibilities include reviewing public notices and project development information to conserve living marine resources; conducting literature reviews; evaluating study designs, Environmental Impact Statements, Site Assessment Plans, Construction and Operations Plans, and monitoring plans; collecting and analyzing data; performing quality control; drafting responses and reports; conducting site visits; preparing maps and geographic displays; providing recommendations to minimize or compensate for adverse impacts; attending meetings and presenting findings to professional audiences. A degree in environmental science or related discipline is required (master's or bachelor's with experience), with salary in the $35-$50/hour range (annualized to $72,800–$104,000 depending on experience). The contract base is one year with up to three option periods; work location is Gloucester, MA.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in environmental science or related discipline (e.g., biology, ecology, fisheries biology, marine biology, natural resource management, conservation biology, landscape ecology, or restoration ecology) or equivalent experience; two additional years of relevant experience may substitute for the degree.
