Job Summary

Prepare for classroom instructional events and support teachers in implementing special strategies and interventions based on individual student IEPs. Provide positive role models while assisting in academics, social skills, self-care, and vocational tasks. Reinforce material introduced by teachers, aid independent study, and implement curriculum modifications or accommodations. Assist with behavioral interventions, de-escalation techniques, and safety plans to create successful learning experiences. Supervise students during breaks, lunches, community trips, and testing, while proctoring assessments and providing make-up work assistance. Execute discrete trials and apply ABA strategies under supervision. Set up and operate assistive technology equipment as directed. Complete onboarding, including familiarization with district policies and student IEPs. Serve as a resource for teachers regarding specific instruction and goal attainment. Work as a member of a team with BCBA and RBT staff.

Required Qualifications

  • Passing score on the Para Pro Test or other state approved assessment program
  • 48 college credits
  • Associate Degree
  • Willingness to accept direction and cooperate with all staff
  • Physical Requirements- Ability to move in and out of an office, classrooms, buildings, and up and down stairs
  • Must possess mobility to work in a classroom
  • Strength to lift and carry materials weighing up to 20 pounds
  • Strength to lift and/or carry materials/items/persons weighing up to 75 pounds with assistance
  • Ability to climb stairs
  • Ability to kneel
  • Ability to move easily on and off floor mats
  • Ability to use good judgment
  • Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in dealing with others
