Job Summary
ESOL Teacher in Somerset County Public Schools is responsible for providing rigorous Language Acquisition instruction to Multilingual Learners aligned with Maryland College and Career Readiness Standards and WIDA English Language Development Standards. Duties include screening ML students for program placement, data-driven planning to differentiate instruction, maintaining required documentation for ML students, serving as a language liaison with families, promoting student participation in extracurricular programs, supervising ML paraprofessionals/tutors, and delivering ongoing professional development for staff on language acquisition strategies.
Required Qualifications
- Certification: Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) certificate with ESOL (PreK-12) endorsement or eligibility
- Knowledge of TESOL and ESOL best practices
- Ability to build positive, nurturing relationships with students, staff, and community
- Understanding of Maryland standards (MSDE, WIDA English Language Development Standards)
- Experience or ability to provide professional development for staff on language acquisition strategies
Desired Qualifications
