Job Summary
Provide rigorous Language Acquisition instruction to Multilingual Learners aligned with Maryland College and Career Readiness Standards and WIDA English Language Development Standards. Screen potential ML students for program placement, analyze data to target instruction and differentiate learning, and maintain all required documentation for accommodations and assessments. Serve as a language specialist and liaison between families and the school, monitor progress across academic schedules, and promote participation in extracurricular programs and special education referrals. Provide ongoing professional development for staff on language acquisition strategies and coordinate the schedules of assigned ML paraprofessionals and tutors.
Required Qualifications
- Must hold or be eligible for a Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) certificate with an ESOL (PreK-12) endorsement
- High knowledge base of the latest research, laws, and effective practices in the field of TESOL
- Ability to maintain positive, nurturing, and collaborative relationships with students, staff, and the community
