Job Summary

Plan and conduct balanced instruction for English language learners across listening, speaking, reading, and writing domains. Create developmentally appropriate opportunities for student exploration while modeling positive behavior management techniques. Select materials and collaborate with staff to develop comprehensive service plans, ensuring active parent involvement through conferences and newsletters. Advocate for families accessing resources and maintain compliance with federal, state, and district documentation policies. Work effectively within diverse cultures while adhering to strict confidentiality regulations regarding student and employee information.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid South Carolina teaching certificate or ability to obtain one within 60 days from being hired
  • Highly Qualified in the content area or ability to become Highly Qualified within 60 days from being hired
  • Completed a program of study in education from an accredited college or university
  • Ability to lift items needed to perform the functions of the job
  • Ability to sit, stand and walk for required periods of time
  • Ability to speak and hear
  • Ability to use close vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception along with the ability to focus vision
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, using proper grammar and vocabulary
  • Ability to use American Sign Language or Braille as acceptable forms of communication
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms and use hands and fingers to handle objects and operate tools, technology equipment, computers, and/or controls
  • Ability to work effectively with and respond to diverse cultures or backgrounds
  • Ability to demonstrate professionalism and appropriate judgment in behavior, speech, and dress in a neat, clean and professional manner
  • Regular and punctual attendance
  • Ability to follow all District policies, work procedures, and reasonable requests by the proper authorities
  • Ability to adhere to confidentiality as directed by Federal, State and Local Laws/Regulations
  • Physical and mental ability to fulfill the essential functions of the above position with or without reasonable accommodation(s)
