ESL Teacher

Provide in-class support in the general education setting and small group instruction to ESL students across North Star Academy campuses in Newark, Boston, Camden, New York City, and Rochester. Attend and participate in IEP meetings for English Learners as directed, while implementing curricula aligned to WIDA English language development standards. Follow ESSA guidelines for identification, instruction, assessment, and exiting ESL students, and provide feedback to content teachers on sheltered instruction strategies. Maintain a positive, structured learning environment that ensures students observe core values and high expectations, while communicating effectively with students, families, and colleagues. Complete training for administering WIDA assessments and demonstrate resilience to turn challenges into opportunities for student growth.
