Job Summary
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to meet their cognitive, affective, and linguistic needs while enabling them to develop competencies for successful societal function. Instruct students and manage their behavior using knowledge of second language acquisition and sheltered instruction practices. Deliver curriculum and instruction that support intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Requires a Bachelor's degree, valid Texas teaching certificate with ESL endorsements, and No Child Left Behind Highly Qualified status. Minimum one year of student teaching or approved internship.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required ESL endorsements for subject/grade level assigned
- Meet No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Highly Qualified Teacher requirements for subject/grade level assigned
- Knowledge of second language acquisition and sheltered instruction practices
- General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- At least one year of student teaching or approved internship
